This vibrant community celebrates ethical writers, providing them with a platform to engage and delight their audiences.

We are excited to review, publish, and promote your stories. Our onboarding pack outlines essential guidelines designed to maintain a safe and productive environment. This brief onboarding document will guide you through your acceptance and set you on a path to success.

After you are added to our publications, you will receive an invitation to join our Slack workspace. Rest assured, we embrace all ethical writers; rejections are not our practice. If you encounter any issues viewing the publications, please notify us via Slack, and we will rectify it promptly.

Once in Slack, your registration is confirmed. If you do not have access, it indicates an issue with your registration, possibly due to a spam filter or an incorrect ID. Please re-submit your accurate ID.

The initial step after joining is to examine the key aspects of the onboarding pack, which contains vital information. If you're already experienced, you may find some points familiar and choose to skip them. However, if you are new to Medium, understanding the platform's functionalities is crucial.

Onboarding Information for New Writers

Welcome to the information pack tailored for new contributors to ILLUMINATION Integrated Publications on Medium.

As of August 1, 2023, Medium has implemented substantial changes affecting the Partner Program, writers, and publications. The emphasis has shifted from quantity to quality, so please submit only one high-quality story each day. Stay updated with our monthly reports regarding recent changes on Medium.

We have also launched a new curation service focused on well-crafted stories as detailed in our first volume.

Why Do Some Submissions Get Returned?

Several factors could lead to a return of your submission, such as non-compliance with the new submission guidelines, excessive language errors, or missing image captions. Notably, we no longer publish stories about Medium itself.

Editors will send a private message explaining the reasoning behind the return. You can view these messages by clicking on the * (star) icon typically located at the top right of your story.

Please remember, receiving feedback does not indicate rejection. We aim to support ethical writers, and you may be encouraged to make adjustments and resubmit or redirect your story to other publications that may be more suitable.

ILLUMINATION-Curated: A Boost Nominating Publication

Excitingly, Medium now recognizes our special publication, ILLUMINATION-Curated, as a formal boost nominating publication for seasoned writers. To join, you must provide evidence of your capability to submit high-quality stories. If you believe your submissions align with our guidelines, please reach out to our chief editor, Dr. Mehmet Yildiz, for a review and potential invitation.

Practical Guidance for New Writers

As a newcomer to Medium, here are four common queries new members frequently ask us. Medium is a distinctive platform with nuances that may not be intuitive for beginners.

1. Submitting Your Stories to Publications

   To share your first story, follow these straightforward steps. After a few attempts, this process will become second nature. Many new writers have experienced delays due to unfamiliarity with this feature.

   When drafting your story, click on the three dots in the upper right corner of your screen. Select "add to publication," choose ILLUMINATION or relevant publications, and submit your story. Once submitted, editors will review it for publication. If it doesn’t meet the criteria, they will provide feedback for improvements or suggest other publications.

2. Utilizing Copyright-Free Images and Captioning Them

   New writers often forget to include captions for images and may inadvertently use copyrighted materials. Violating copyright can lead to severe penalties. Our editors strive to protect your interests, so please adhere to their guidance.

3. AI-Generated Content Policy

   Following Medium's latest strategy, our publications do not accept AI-generated content, with the exception of the dedicated publication, the Lampshade of ILLUMINATION. Writers utilizing AI tools like Jasper or ChatGPT may submit their work to this publication.

4. Understanding Slack and Its Importance

   Slack is a private collaboration tool distinct from social media platforms like Twitter or Facebook. It facilitates communication among writers, editors, and publication owners, making it easier to resolve issues. Our Slack community, which includes over 18,000 members, offers numerous benefits, including sharing story links to increase visibility. You can customize your notification settings according to your preferences.

Contrary to assumptions, ILLUMINATION editors do not publish every submission. Stories must be thoughtfully crafted and valuable to our audience. Our focus is on creating curatable and boostable content.

Increasing Earnings through Content Creation

Beyond boosting opportunities on Medium, which can enhance your income, our chief editor Dr. Mehmet Yildiz addresses common inquiries regarding how to increase earnings from writing engagement. Many writers aspire to make a living from their craft, and relying solely on Medium is not the best strategy. Exploring diverse opportunities is essential for success.
