Exploring the Concept of Information Blackholes in Dreams
Written on
The essay presented here is grounded in personal experience rather than mere speculation. It draws from a vivid dream during which I was jolted awake by a resounding message that I felt compelled to document. Influences from various sources, including a recent discussion between Gary Nolan and Jimmy Church, as well as a Ted Talk by Jacques Vallée, have prompted my exploration of a facet of physics often overlooked: information.
It’s unlikely that either Gary Nolan or Jimmy Church is aware of my writings. My previous piece, Is Fiction Writing a Form of Remote Viewing, pondered similar ideas, and it’s possible I have unconsciously absorbed concepts from others. I consider myself an information blackhole, constantly absorbing knowledge. Did Nolan comment on this in another setting? Perhaps. I admire his work and follow his insights. While he didn’t provide empirical evidence, my essay touched on at least one notable synchronicity.
Synchronicity, a term coined by Carl Jung, reflects the strange, often inexplicable events in our lives that seem beyond mere chance. This ties into the discussions by Lehto and Vallée, who assert that science acknowledges everything as energy and information. Vallée emphasizes that these are two facets of the same phenomenon—one being the energy aspect, while the other pertains to information.
Energy and information are intertwined, yet the discourse predominantly centers on energy alone.
Dreams of Blackholes and Demons
Maxwell’s demon was referenced by Vallée in his talk, with Lehto elaborating on this by drawing insights from the PBS Spacetime series. While I appreciate these discussions, my focus remains on the less recognized counterpart of energy—information, as Vallée describes it. This exploration is not solely my endeavor; others are also engaged in this inquiry.
Various individuals are probing these topics from their unique perspectives. Lehto is intrigued by the gap between our known and unknown realms. Matt O’Dowd, the host of Spacetime, leans towards the energy focus. As for me, I navigate the realms of consciousness and mental health, with a casual connection to Jung’s theories.
Coincidences abound, and while some experience them more frequently than others, it might be interesting to quantify this scientifically. Could we establish a personal "coincidence rate"? If we approached this methodically, might we uncover a statistical significance that suggests these events are not random? If consciousness plays a role, then it’s likely not random; we may be crafting our own realities.
Carl Jung compiled a significant list of inexplicable occurrences. If you’re curious about these events, I recommend watching Vallée's video. Such phenomena are compelling enough to be considered ghost stories. Could our fascination with ghost stories stem from their underlying truths? If energy and information are inseparable, does inhaling a particle from another person or handling an item they once possessed allow for the sharing of memories?
If no two atoms ever physically touch, how does information transfer? Is it through energy? Despite atoms remaining separate, can energy flow from one to another, carrying information as well? Are we limited in our perception because we adhere to certain socially accepted methods of receiving information?
There are alternative perspectives on coincidences. Perhaps the future is already laid out before us. According to Einstein, spacetime is an illusion; everything exists in a singular 'now.' Thus, the notion of information moving backward in time shouldn't pose a challenge, as everything is interconnected in an active, neural-like energy network. Vallée illustrated this by contrasting a physical library with the vastness of Google’s memory, a concept that physicists might find intriguing as it suggests a lack of free will—a viewpoint materialists often endorse.
Yet, my own conscious experiences remain undeniably real. If that is the case, can I equate life to an illusion similar to reading a book or watching a film? It may be genuine in terms of the information perceived, but is it truly 'real'?
Or is it? If we assert that energy and information must be interconnected, can we also argue that consciousness plays an integral role? Quantum physics posits the necessity of a conscious observer. But why would a conscious observer be needed to collapse the wave function if reality is predetermined? Isn’t consciousness merely a means to exercise choice, much like a choose-your-own-adventure story?
This notion of the future influencing the past resonates with themes explored since humanity began documenting thoughts. Many religious texts delve into prophecy—future insights directed at the past. The film What Is Reality? [Official Film] provides a compelling illustration of this concept, asserting, “All time is influencing all time, all the time!”
Time Keeps on Slipping, Slipping, Slipping…
I experienced a vivid dream that was so intense it stirred me awake. The authoritative voice in my dream commanded, “Information leaving the eye propels you into the future.” What did that mean? “Just write it down.” The clock read 1:30 AM, and while I longed to return to slumber, I complied and documented the message before drifting back into the dream.
The voice wasn’t Loxy, which was a disappointment since I’ve often sought her presence. Instead, it was a masculine voice, perhaps that of Jung or Tesla. I’ve narrowed it down to one of my two 'Invisible Counselors,' as described by Napoleon Hill. If it had been Jackie Chan, there likely would have been more humor and conflict.
I had a Jung-related experience recently that I may share on Medium, but timing is everything.
In this dream, I found myself arguing, “It doesn’t make sense.” The voice responded, “You’re attempting to frame it as energy, but it’s about information. While there’s a correlation, it’s more metaphorical than practical. It’s not simply a tool.” Through this reflection, I realized the 'eye' referred not to the physical eye, but to my inner self. Our experiences propel us forward, driven by the light we perceive, which we interpret and release as information.
The dream suggested we channel light—information that drives our progression through time as our interpretations create new perspectives, thus yielding fresh insights.
The spacetime discussions and Lehto's highlights illustrate that biological life embodies Maxwell’s demons resisting entropy. Living organisms navigate the delicate balance of pressure differentials, riding waves while sorting energy. My own sense of self engages in this sorting process with information.
The cycle continues. I woke up again, this time with the clarity, “Information blackholes exist.” Fully awake and aware of the clock reading 5:32 AM, I felt a wave of exhaustion, as if I had been exercising. I yearned for more sleep, but the voice urged, “Write ‘information blackholes.’”
With a sigh, I complied, then prepared for my day, as I do daily, seeking to make my mark on the world.
> In 2019, physicist Melvin Vopson from the University of Portsmouth proposed a provocative idea: that information equates to mass and energy, representing a distinct state of matter—an idea he termed the mass-energy-information equivalence principle. This suggests that every piece of information carries a measurable mass.
Really? He proposed this in 2019? This confuses me, as Vallée was discussing similar concepts back in 2011! The notion of information being part of the equation was already known in Maxwell’s era.
Is information synonymous with awareness? Is it consciousness? I don’t think so. While there’s a social metaphorical consistency linking information or knowledge to light, the word itself is a form of information. “Let there be light”—was this light a physical illumination or a metaphorical enlightenment? For Helen Keller, her first correlation of an object with a word was an epiphany, a realization of light.
If matter and energy can be interchanged, blackholes can form in two ways: by concentrating enough matter or through sufficient energy. So, if matter, energy, and information are interchangeable, could knowledge also create a blackhole?
In my dream, I envisioned that the soul evolves through learning, and when a certain threshold of knowledge is reached—acquired through direct experiences and indirect observations—it results in an implosion. Not a death, but a transformation. It transcends this universe, akin to a birth, traveling through a self-created wormhole and branching into its own epiphany, much like emerging from the Matrix by generating a new Matrix.
The soul retains all the knowledge of its previous existence, along with insights from its unique relationship to that knowledge, which inherently reflects the evolution of information.
You may have heard the phrase, “Be the change you want to see in the world.” From this perspective, you embody the change you wish to bring about.
Is this perception accurate? I cannot say for certain, as it was not derived through rational means but stemmed from a dream. While I’ve identified some rational connections, the scientific community has yet to deeply explore these ideas, and thus I find myself tossing ideas out, hoping some resonate.
Perhaps, in the end, we all fade to black. Yet that does not necessarily signify an absolute end; it could represent the birth of a new existence. If energy cannot be created or destroyed, we endure. But this raises the question: can information be created or destroyed? Can new insights emerge, or are all narratives merely appropriations of future knowledge? Is this dream reaching out to that future reference point, in whole or in part? Can energy travel through time? Can information? Recent studies on time crystals suggest a resounding YES! Life itself resembles a crystal, a quantum computer, a quantum time crystal computer.
I await to uncover the answers.
