Exploring My Affections: A Journey Through 50 Loves

Written on

Chapter 1: A Teenage Misadventure

Reflecting on my past, I recall a time when I made a reckless decision. As a young teenager, I took money from my aunt to purchase a video game. In those days, before the rise of the PlayStation, consoles like Ending Man, Terminator, Sega, and Gameboy were the ultimate status symbols for kids. Owning one meant you were the envy of your peers, and the thrill of playing was unmatched.

My passion for video games was undeniable. However, when my aunt discovered the game, she was furious. I knew that if she found out I had used her money, I would be in serious trouble. But as they say, “innocence is presumed until proven guilty.” So, I feigned innocence, insisting, “This game isn’t mine! It belongs to Osas.”

Just moments later, she was dragging me down the street to confront Osas. Panic set in—what was I going to do? I hoped Osas would play along and not betray me. “Osas, tell me the truth. Where did George get that game?” my aunt demanded. My heart raced as I awaited his response, fearing the worst.

To my relief, Osas finally said, “I gave it to him.” Oh, thank goodness!

“Are you certain? Because if I find out you’re lying, I’ll go straight to your mother,” she threatened.

“Yeah, I gave it to him to play last night,” he confirmed.

My aunt shot me a piercing glare, released my hand, and ordered, “Get inside the house!”

I bolted inside, grateful for my narrow escape. If anyone ever reads this, let it be known that Osas is my hero.

As I grew older, my interests evolved, and I began to understand more about myself. I stumbled upon an article by Priyanka Priyadarshini, which prompted me to reflect on what truly matters to me.
