Exciting Enhancements to Tales Factory: An AI Storybook Tool

Chapter 1: Introduction to Tales Factory
It has been just two weeks since the launch of Tales Factory, and the reception has been phenomenal. With over 500 users registered and upwards of 1,000 storybooks created, its popularity is soaring.
What Is Tales Factory?
Tales Factory is an innovative platform designed to revolutionize storytelling through artificial intelligence. It transforms basic text prompts into coherent storybooks, complete with custom illustrations and voiceover capabilities. Since its launch, we have been continuously enhancing the web application. In this article, I will highlight three of the most exciting updates:
- Revamped user interface (UI)
- Option to export storybooks as PDF files
- Ability to toggle story visibility between public and private
Update #1: Revamped User Interface (UI)
Recently, I initiated a discussion on Product Hunt seeking user feedback regarding the user experience (UX) and interface of the Tales Factory site. For context, you can view screenshots of the previous version in this article.
The Product Hunt thread has garnered over 22 responses, with key feedback including:
- Clarification on the number of free credits users can receive and the signup requirements.
- Incorporating social proof, such as publicly shared stories from other users.
- Making pricing information clearer.
- Ensuring the login/signup/waitlist buttons are easily accessible.
- Adding user testimonials for credibility.
- Improving navigation for mobile users, who reported a lack of menu options.
Taking inspiration from this valuable feedback, I made several enhancements to the website, including a redesigned homepage that now provides comprehensive information on how the app works and what actions users should take.
Update #2: PDF Export Feature
Among the most requested features from our feedback was the ability to export storybooks to PDF format. We have introduced a new "Export to PDF" option at the conclusion of each storybook.
The generated PDF will present three paragraphs per page. You are free to sell, print, or share the storybooks you create, and we also provide a commercial license for public-generated storybooks. However, the mobile version of the PDF export is still undergoing improvements, as formatting issues are being addressed.
Update #3: Story Visibility Settings
Another noteworthy update is the new feature that allows users to toggle the visibility of their stories between "private" and "public."
- Private stories: Only visible to the user who created them.
- Public stories: Accessible to everyone, appearing on both "My Library" and "Public Library" pages.
This visibility toggle is currently available only to paying users through the My Library page, while stories generated with free credits remain public by default.
Final Thoughts
That covers the latest updates! What do you think?
It's important to note that Tales Factory is a small project run by just two developers—my friend Narvel and I—without any investors. We're currently operating on a tight budget and are hopeful for growth.
This article aims to boost online visibility and encourage more users to sign up and purchase credits. The responses on Product Hunt have been incredibly beneficial, so if you're considering launching your own website or application, I highly recommend utilizing such platforms.
As we are still in the beta phase, numerous features are planned, and bugs are being resolved. Please try out the platform and share your thoughts; every comment is invaluable to us.
